Christmas Greetings from Germany 2024
Dear RW Master, W Wardens, Office Bearers and fellow brethren of No XII,
I wish you all and your loved ones Merry Christmas and all the very best for the forthcoming year.
This I do also on behalf of all the brethren of Kurt Tucholsky Lodge No 1060 GC.
We had a busy year and were happy to welcome new members – initiates as well as joining brethren.
In November 2023 we should have celebrated the 10th anniversary of KTL. Unfortunately on the dates we had suggested the Lodge rooms were not available and in the end we found a date in January this year.
We could welcome offices of grand Lodge, visitors and many of our members – we even had to open the doors to the anteroom to allow more tears to be placed.
The meeting was followed by an informal get-together with families and potential candidates.
To commemorate this special occasion the founding Master surprised his fellow brethren with a present: A rough ashlar and a perfect ashlar all in one.
The sculpture as well as the wooden box it is kept in when not on display was made by Brother Peter Kellner from Hanover, a retired radio journalist.
When turning it upside down one can see that the stone keeps a 'secret'.
When turning the three pointed star into the required position a mechanism with a spring pushes up a casing made of brass showing an engraving.
The casing is big enough to hold a certificate if folded properly or e.g. an USB stick with the data of all members ( to be updated regularly).
It took Brother Peter an awful lot of time to form the stone and build the box. All present supported the WM with a round of applause when he congratulated and thanked Brother Peter for his excellent work.
I have attached a picture showing the front of the wooden box mentioned above.
Wishing you and yours all the best and looking forward to hearing from you I greet you cordially and fraternally
Robert
