Annual Bowling Challenge v Lodge Crawfurdsburn No 1121 - 2018

What a great morning we had on Saturday 5th May 2018 when Brethren from No XII, with a few guest appearances by our usual Brethren from other lodges, lined up against the mighty bowling stars of Lodge Crawfurdsburn No 1121.

Since it's inception in 1990 the Trophy has been contested 25 times with No 1121 well in the lead winning 17 to No XII 8 times. This is despite in the first 6 years it was turn about each year. No 1121 then went on an impressive 6 in a row in 1998 - 2003 until 7 in a row was averted by No XII in 2004. Since then No XII won the trophy in 2004, 2007, 2008 (yes 2 in a row) and 2015 (to stop 4 in a row). No 1121 hit back winning it again in 2016 and 2017.

Well now onto this year 2018, we had a terrific day and the rain stayed off to let No XII regain the trophy for the first time since 2015. I will not give you the overall score, don't want to embarrass our friends ....... we're just happy it wasn't us getting thrashed for a change......

Thanks to everyone for setting up and for playing. Thanks also to Ardgowan Bowling Club and to our dear friend Cathy Morrison, just back from Australia with Kenny, but still there to support us all, for doing the raffle and for serving up a great roll n' pie at the end of the match.....

All that said we all really enjoyed our day together with our friends and look forward to next year.

Visit to Lodge Leven St John's No 170

Five Brethren of NoXII visited Lodge Leven St John's No 170 on Friday 13th April 2018, where we witnessed a fantastic rendition of the 'McBride' ritual - Passing.

Completely different from anything I have seen before and they make use of their winding staircase, unique to this lodge as far as I know, during the ritual.

The photograph below shows No XII Brethren on the staircase shortly after the meeting which was followed by a lovely harmony. Well worth the visit...

Alistair Glenny RWM 1983

My thanks to Alistair Glenny PM for the photograph below which were taken on the night of his Installation into the Chair of No XII.

The first one shows Alistair with his IPM Bro Jack Glenny and Provost Harry Mulholland.
Alistair and Jack entered into the Lodge history books back in 1983 by being the first siblings to follow one another in becoming RWM of No XII.
You will also notice the bust looking over Alistair's shoulder as James Watt.

On the Evening Provost Harry Mulholland left a lovely note for Alistair and his office bearers.

No XII and Lodge Crawfurdsburn Greenock No 1121 - Exemplification of Passing Tuesday 27th March

The strong relationship between the two Lodges stretches back to the consecration of Lodge Crawfurdsburn in 1913. This was further cemented at the 175 Masonic Club on Tuesday 27th March, when RWM Bro Allan T Glen took a deputation of 14 brethren of No XII, and our good friend, Bro Stewart M Aitken PM of the Glasgow Star Lodge No. 219, to exemplify a Passing.

The Degree Team was
Obligation RWM Bro Allan T Glen
Secrets Bro Iain White PM
Apron Bro J Robert Crossan WSW
Working Tools Bro Robert J Bain PM
Tracing Board Bro Kenneth C MacDougall PM
Charge Bro Brian McFadyen WJW.

The ‘candidate’ for the evening was Bro Campbell McDiarmid JD of Lodge Crawfurdsburn. RWM Bro Malcom Sinclair of Lodge Crawfurdsburn paid compliments to the quality of the work done by the degree team and we enjoyed some Lodge hospitality after the meeting was over. The pie and beans were very tasty.

AB MSAt the end of the meeting there seemed to be a little confusion in our RWM’s mind about the circumstances in which he had first met RWM Bro Malcolm Sinclair of Lodge Crawfurdsburn, but the confusion is now over. They say that the camera never lies so here it is

The date was Tuesday 24th September 2013 and, again No XII was at Crawfurdsburn to confer a Passing. Again, it was an exemplification and, on that occasion, the ‘candidate’ for that evening was none other than Bro Malcolm Sinclair, pictured here, on the left. with Bro Alan D Beck, RWM of No XII at the time.
